On September 19th, we hosted our first rural schools event, as part of a joint project with LESS CIC funded by the Westminster Foundation, at Hornby St Margaret's CofE Primary School, where Leck St Peter’s CofE Primary School and Quernmore VC CofE Primary School joined us for an afternoon of nature activities and apple pressing fun!
Pupils came ready for an alfresco picnic lunch and ate together outside on the playing field. They enjoyed bulb planting, making bird feeders and Mrs Davidson, head of Hornby St Margaret's, generously provided her juice presser! The children all enjoyed learning how to chop and juice apples.
Feedback about the event both from staff and pupils has been very positive. Not only was it a great way to get children outside and engaging in nature but it was a wonderful way for children and staff from these rural schools to meet and form a community.
A big thank you to Hornby for hosting and to all the staff that helped out on the day. We look forward to hosting more events in the future!
