This year, we’re thrilled to announce that our hosts for the green careers children’s conference are Trumacar Nursery and Community Primary School — a school that has been buzzing with creativity as they transform their grounds through Where The Wildings Are! If you haven’t visited lately, prepare to be inspired. Their students have been busy planting, designing, exploring, and reimagining what a nature‑rich school can look like.
So grab your diary and circle Thursday 2 July 2026, because we’re planning our best Rewilding Roots Festival yet!
What’s Happening on the Day?
The Rewilding Roots Festival is all about celebrating young people, inspiring climate‑positive futures, and showcasing the brilliant eco‑work happening across our region. This year is packed with hands‑on activities, inspiring talks, and exciting challenges that make sustainability fun, practical, and empowering.
Here’s a taste of what to expect:
Inspiring Guest Speakers
Hear from people working in exciting green careers — and discover how YOU could make a difference. These speakers bring real‑world stories of change, innovation, and hope.
Green Organisation Stalls
Students can get stuck into practical activities, eco‑challenges, and nature-based demonstrations from organisations working directly in conservation, climate action, STEM, and sustainability.
The Legendary Potato Fairy Competition
Who will take home the crown this year? We cannot wait to see the creativity these potato-based masterpieces inspire. Not registered for our free competition yet? Click here and get chitting!
Packed Lunch Waste Challenge
Which school can produce the least waste? There’s a prize waiting for the champions — and plenty of learning along the way.
School Eco‑Showcases
Schools from our projects will be bringing along displays about their school. This is a wonderful chance for students to share their work, inspire others, and feel proud of what they’re achieving.
A Day to Celebrate and Imagine
The Festival isn’t just a fun day out — it’s about nurturing green aspirations, building confidence, and giving children a glimpse of the future they can help create. Whether it’s rewilding a school field, starting a wormery, or dreaming up a new sustainable invention, every project adds to the movement.
And this year at Trumacar, with their newly transformed outdoor areas, the setting couldn’t be more perfect.
